KLHS are delighted to introduce to you the KYLEAKIN TARTAN designed for the village by Neil Montgomery. Neil and his family were regular visitors to Kyleakin since his father Hamish was a child.

Hamish was a relative of the Munro family, Johnny Munro owned the shop on the pier now known as Harry’s café and lived upstairs with his sisters Teenie and Katie. Neil fondly remembers his summers here and playing with the local boys.

Kyleakin is still very much in Neil’s heart and this is reflected in the colours which make up the tartan: -

Pacific Blue

- The deep blue of the Kyle of Lochalsh

Anderson Blue

- The stoney blue of a spent storm sky

Holly Green

- The deep earthy green of the hills surrounding Kyleakin

Scarlet

- The Fishermans blood line, resource and sacrifice

Neil intends to promote and draw attention to the tartan by highlighting it to designers around the globe.
